A beautiful book about Savannah's timeless squares:  Savannah Square by Square!

In 1733, Georgia's founder James Oglethorpe laid out a new kind of city in the midst of a virgin forest. The unique city plan Oglethorpe created-- a repeating pattern of squares encircled by homes and public buildings-- has provided a template for close to three centuries of growth. Oglethorpe's four original squares have grown to 22 historic squares, each with its own unique character and charm.

In 2015 a team of five creative Savannahians came together to create Savannah Square by Square, a visually stunning coffee table book that combines beautiful photographs of the squares with lively, historically accurate stories about these unique Savannah treasures. Artfully rendered pen and ink drawings complete the picture.

We are delighted to have teamed with Coastal Heritage Society to publish the sixth edition of this new classic, which was first released in December 2015.

Savannah Square by Square is available at the Coastal Heritage Society museums stores and many other Savannah-area bookstores and gift shops.
